Order of St Luke

The healing ministry of Christ has a long history at the Church of the Good Shepherd, and it is a ministry that continues to manifest itself in our midst.

The Good Shepherd of Central Florida Chapter of the International Order of St Luke the Physician meets on a regular basis to train up new Associate Members to become Full Members.  The Full Members also meet regularly to continue to nurture their ministry.  Please call the church office for details of these meetings or contact the Convener, Jan-Marie Waters, via the Contact Form to the right.

An invitation to receive the laying on of hands, anointing with holy oil, and prayers for the Lord's healing is extended at every worship service at the Church of the Good Shepherd.  At the 10:30 am service there is an entire section of the church, the Healing Transept, that is set apart for those who are in need of the Lord's healing: body, mind, soul, or spirit.  After having received Holy Communion at the altar rail those in need of healing may go and sit or kneel in any of the open pews in the Healing Transept where the OSL team will come to them to pray for them and anoint them with holy oil for Christ's healing.

Please see the box to the right for information on our weekly Healing Prayer Service.

There is also an Intercessory Prayer Group at Church of the Good Shepherd.  This Intercessory Prayer Group consists of all members of the local OSL chapter and others who have discerned a gift for intercessory prayer, have read Richard Foster's book on prayer (Prayer: Finding the Heart's True Home), and have signed the Covenant of Confidentiality that binds complete confidentiality upon all OSL and Intercessory Prayer Group members.  All prayer requests are entered online through our Prayer Request form and sent via email or by phone to our intercessors.
